How One-Day Divorce work
- One of you retains collaborative lawyer Richard Pollock (Evans Pollock Family Law), and the other retains collaborative lawyer Kimberly Soul (Bennet Waugh Corne).
- Each of you pays a retainer of $4,995 (plus tax) to cover legal fees for negotiating and drafting the necessary agreements and documents. The fee also includes reasonable disbursements (photocopying or filing fees). If you just seek separation, the fee is $4,500 (plus tax).
- A coach will work with you on communication, any concerns you have, and a parenting plan, if applicable. Average coaching fees are $150/hr, with total hours dependent on need.
- Each of you provides your lawyer with the required financial disclosure.
- Based on your disclosure, Kim and Richard will draft a Family Property Act Accounting to assist with property division and calculate child and spousal support (if applicable).
- You will each meet with your lawyers to review the drafts of the above documents.
- From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on a weekday, you will gather with your spouse, the lawyers, and the coach (if necessary) to collaborate on finalizing a separation agreement and divorce documents.
- If you have been separated for one year, we can finalize the divorce documents. If not, we will prepare and file the documents for your signature on the eligible date.
